1. Do not touch your piercing. Hands are full of bacteria and are the leading cause of infection.
2. You need to clean your piercing 2-3 times a day using an antibacterial soap like liquid dial. Lather the soap in the palm of your hand using a q-tip and clean the entry and the exit of the piercing. Afterward, rinse the soap off with warm water to ensure that there is no residue left by the soap.
3. We do not recomend using rubbing alcohol, peroxide, or betadine on your piercing. These products are far too harsh and could prolong the healing time.
4. Avoid soaking the piercing in any bodies of water for 2-3 week. This includes: hot tubs, oceans, lakes, pools, etc. This strictly to avoid infection. (showering is ok.)
5. Take Advil or ibuprofin for any pain or swelling, or use ice.
6. The jewelry that was inserted needs to remain in the piercing for 4-6 weeks before changing it.
7. Oral piercing- Rinse your mouth using an antiseptic mouth rinse (Listerine, Biotene) after you eat or drink anything besides water. Do not use Scope it is not an antiseptic it is a breath freshener. Avoid drinking beer for 2-3 weeks. The yeast in beer could cause an oral yeast infection.
8. If you have any signs if infection (redness, abnormal swelling, bleeding, discharge) contact your piercer as soon as possible.
