Bobby Magnante- Artist

Bobby was born and raised in the LA area. He has in lived all over the state of California and traveled extensively across the US. Bobby’s first interest in tattoos came about when Bob was 17 and a friend of his got tattooed by the now legendary Bob Roberts. It was a simple design with just some hands and traditional flowers, but ever since he became hooked on tattoos- 2 weeks later, he was getting tattooed also by Bob Roberts. Not too long after that Bobby was tattooing seriously, primarily self-taught he’s been tattooing since 1989 and professionally since 1998. Having worked in the Hollywood and San Fernando Valley he was able to develop being able to work in diverse styles and enjoy the variety of customers he encountered, all while doing it in a clean, methodical but fast paced manner. Bobby takes the most pleasure in doing Traditional Americana/Neo-Traditional styles as well as Japanese-style tattoos with a Western influence. He likes to blend as much as he can around him as influences to his work; be it occult imagery, maritime symbols, old legends or his fondness for other tattoo artists’ artwork. Bobby came to San Luis Obispo originally with his wife for holidays and vacations, and decided over a year ago they wanted to leave the LA area to raise their little girl in a slower paced, more nurturing environment than the constant bombardment of corporate marketing and ‘rat race’ lifestyle so often associated with Los Angeles.
